Seeking the One

 Seeking the One

I want to share this wonderful testimony of God's goodness with you. Last Thursday morning I was considering going to a prayer meeting, but felt that the Lord had another plan. So I decided to catch up on errands and asked the Lord to provide someone, and committed that I would share the word and salvation with at least one person before coming back home. So in the morning, I headed out of my driveway and got no further than about five houses, and saw my neighbor Sherry looking very sad. Now this is a lady that though we have been friendly, we haven't gotten that close. You see, she is a Liberal Married Lesbian and I have God Bless America plastered all over my house. We are friendly, but never ever talk about Jesus or Conservative values.

I stopped because she was just standing next to the curb and looked totally in despair. I stopped the truck and asked her if she was okay. She said “No!” I asked her what was wrong, and she told me that her 85 year old mother had just broken her hip and was in the hospital and tested positive for Covid and they wouldn't let her get near her. Then they moved her to a nursing home, and tested her again and the test came up negative, but felt that Sherry would prepare for her to pass away soon due to possibility of getting pneumonia. She also stated that her mom had severe dementia and couldn't communicate. So I listened to her, and then we started talking about the Lord. It turns out that she had been raised in all kinds of churches, but because she had always been attracted to females, it was a struggle for her. She said she knew Jesus, and the Bible but just couldn't change, so doesn't consider herself a Christian, but has a relationship with Jesus. We talked about quite a few issues, and found we agreed on many things, and some others we didn't. We talked for about 45 minutes. Then I asked her if I could pray for her Mom and her family. She said yes, so I put my hand on hers, and prayed for God to do what was best for her Mother according to His will, and if it was for healing, we thanked Him for her healing. Then I prayed for peace over the family and encouraged Kathy to seek truth and build her relationship with Jesus.

Five days later, we were outside and she drove up in her truck and stopped. I asked her how she was and how her mom was. She got a great big smile on her face and said She was great and her mom is doing really well. All her dementia completely disappeared, and she is in physical therapy and doing really well. Totally coherent for the first time in a couple years. Kate invited us to a concert she was giving downtown that evening. So, we went down and she announced to the whole crowd that her neighbors were there. After the concert, She gave us a big hug. What a miracle took place for all of us. God is really teaching me to go after the lost, regardless of their opinions, values, or differences with what I believe. You would be surprised at how God can use you to give them a touch of God's love. I believe a huge door has been opened for us to spend time together and talk further about God's word.

  1. The rest of the story: just got a knock on the door and many months later here is Sherry tromping through the snow to bring me hot bread she had baked! We have become friends and this also was a thank you for Jerry plowing her driveway. He loves to snowblow many of the neighbors drives when the snow hits. I have a good guy!
